Shark Fishing

Unfortunately, sometimes the best thing is the sunset! Several trips to the beach in early 2009, Sarasota, but no bites. Big Kingfish for bait on this occasion but little action.

2nd time on the hard water

So here we are at the cottage in Parry Sound, walked over about an hour from the marina, picked a good spot and yea there were trout! About 40-50 feet down with a jig, about 8-10 inches of ice, quite clear in spots too.

Lake Simcoe - First time on the hard water

So our first efforts on the ice, caught a bunch of perch - more than everyone else that was out there anyway! Was a good day, warm in the sun, walked about a mile from shore onto Simcoe, about 20 feet of water or so. Note the plane crash in the background, he tried to land but his wheel fell off!

Not always good hunting.

So this is October 2009, cool and windy up at Huckleberry and Campbell and I found few deer and fewer ducks. Just a few weeks before most all of the dock got washed away. Maybe next year (well we know now that 2010 was a great year for ducks!. Was a muskrat though, living in the boat, ate all the wires and had to tow it back to the marina!

Needle Nose Bog Suckers

October Thanksgiving we had 5 days up in Parry Sound. Over on the mainland we came across a flock of Woodcock, Harrison got one and we all missed a bunch but circled around and found them again in some of the thickest bush that we have ever hunted. Great time though despite the scratches and brusies. Was delicious as well.

Huckleberry Bear

At the cottage on Huckleberry Isalnd, Parry Sound and Harrison caught this bear in the front yard, checking out the bird box I suppose. Only see bears rarely, once every 5-10 years for any one of us, but there have been a few more recently - expect that they are always around.

Nut Island - Across the bar on foot

Campbell and Matt Lang head across the bar with Dylan to Nut Island with some decoys early in duck season, September 2008. Nut is in Lake Ontario of the south side of Amherst Island near Kingston, Ontario. We joined the club in 2008 thanks to an invite from Mike Lang.

Gulf Blacktip Shark

So cool, same trip as the Mackeral and Harrison hooked into a few sharks, this Blacktip gets to the boat. See the slide show for some pics and video - about 35 minutes from hook up to landing.

Florida Wild Boar

During the Christmas break the guys went hunting for Wild Boar on a ranch near Arcadia, Florida, about an hour inland from Sarasota. Successful as usual. I'll let them add some more details on the hunt and maybe a few more pics.

No bad weather, just inappropriate clothing!

So for the first adventure he it is - Nut Island Hunting Club, on the eastern end of Lake Ontario near Kingston. Its the weekend before Christmas and a\we are at the club and getting out for some winter duck hunting in some extreme weather. Actually did get ducks the next morning. We are out here with Mike Lang and his son Matt.

First Time Out

So we have had so many adventures and so many thoughts that cross our minds its time to start tracking them all - with Harrison in Kamloops B.C. and Campbell in Lakefield, Ontario, and Adam on his way to Mexico City we will be able to link and track and share things here. At least that's the idea. We'll add history and stories and pictures of past trips and fish and hunts as we go to compile what we hope will become a full history and resource for us all. This is us on the beach in Siesta Key, Florida where we've been lucky enough to be able to fish regularly (many pics to come).
